      Disposition:

A CYNICAL IDEALIST — Johnny is an idealist first and foremost, unwilling to compromise on what he believes is right and how the world should and shouldn’t function. He’s quick to point out the corruption of big corporations, the government, and people around him, hating the fact that society seems to be stumbling past the point of no return. The cynicism in him is quick to note the hypocrisy and how people are blind to it; the idealist in him believes that change can still be implemented, that it has to happen not just for the sake of rebellion, but for saving humanity’s soul — its sense of self, its own privacy and individual freedoms that it’s so quick to give up in the name of convenience and big tech. He cares sincerely about this, none of it a farce, and it’s probably the most honest facet of his character.

CHARISMATIC AND CONFIDENT — Johnny’s a rockerboy meant for the stage, and he’s got all the personality traits that come with it. He’s a magnetizing presence, a charmer when he tries, wielding an innate silver tongue that can be oddly poetic at times, despite his gruff demeanor. He’s the kind of person to turn heads when he walks by due to his confidence, the kind of person who steals attention when he enters the room. He likes the attention, feeding off of its energy, and using it whether for good or ill to make sure he’s heard when he speaks. Even when he isn’t trying, he’s a larger than life presence; like he’s always got something packed away and ready to steal the reins of the conversation if he’s allowed.

IMPULSIVE AND SELF-DESTRUCTIVE — Johnny lives in the moment, though that’s not always a good thing. He’s the “act first, ask questions later” kind of person, and harbors a short fuse that doesn’t take much to set off. He makes questionable choices, never seeming to care about the eventual consequences; the biggest example was his act of terrorism against a huge corporation, which went pear-shaped and ended the lives of many in the city. Johnny drinks too much, smokes too much, does too many drugs, and ruminates more than he should — an unhealthy way of coping what is essentially a lowkey depression and the burnout life he once led, even though he has toned down his impulsivity, at least, quite a bit at the end of the game.

CRUDE, NARCISSISTIC, AND JUST A JERK — ...But not toned down to completely wipe all of his negative traits, the ones that just make him Johnny. He doesn’t go out of his way to be polite or make friends, and he often makes this clear with Strong Opinions riddled with all manner of expletives. Johnny may not nearly he as bad as he was at the beginning of the narrative—he’s learned to take the final chance at “life” he has to repair a few burned bridges—but he’s still the kind used to the world revolving around him. He doesn’t care what others think, doesn’t care if he’s sometimes hypocritical in his criticisms, doesn’t care if he pisses someone off just because they’re wrong. Johnny is almost always certain he’s the right one, after all, and his patronizing view of most mindless people in Night City gives him an air of unfiltered superiority. Again, he’s learned to tone this down a little with those he cares about... but if you’re a stranger, he couldn’t probably care less if he offends.

INWARDLY SENSITIVE AND PHILOSOPHIZING — But he’s not all hard edges, as much as he’d try to get others to believe otherwise. Johnny is a rebel displeased with the state of the world because he cares about that world, realizing how life could be and questioning why it isn’t that way. He wants to be happy, at his core, and gives everything a lot more thought than he initially lets on. It’s hinted at that he’s well-read (reading The Metamorphosis in one ending, easily quoting the Bible, skeptically asking V if he’s never read a book before) and philosophizes in ways that reveal a lot of inner rumination about the state of the world and mankind. At his core, he’s still the dumb kid who came back from the war broken and questioning his purpose, he’s just had years of experience of rockerboy rebellion to pile atop that core and turn it into the more compelling, if not jaded, outlet of Johnny Silverhand.

Under pressure: Johnny’s been through plenty; a war, a rockerboy’s instinct to rebel against a corrupt system, an imprisonment of the soul, and life as a personality construct in someone else’s head. While it’s arguable that he handled any of it gracefully, his personality forces him not only to take everything in stride, but to keep fighting and pushing forward. In a sense, this will apply to a new game setting, too.

Though the complication lies in having a new body again; it’ll be a strange readjustment, feeling his own agency in something organic, and this is something he will have to get used to again. That... or perhaps reenact his co-dependent nature with his castmate V until something better can be sorted. In regards to purpose, he won’t care quite as much what happens to himself—he’s well past that part of him—and instead focus on the state of the people he does know here. Though still rough around the edges, sometimes altogether unpleasant, it’ll still be Johnny’s priority to make sure those he cares about from home are safe, relatively happy, and find a way home. Sure, it’d be nice if the same happened to him, but he was nothing more than code — maybe it won’t be so bad to enjoy this second (third?) life he’s been given.

Condition upon arrival: With a fresh new body, Johnny is as good as new.

      Abilities:

Johnny spent time enlisted in the military, so he’s competent with an array of weaponry, but mostly firearms. He doesn’t fold under pressure and has had plenty of experience in dire situations and the like — even more recently, since he’d been sharing a body with a mercenary keen on finding trouble in the city.

Other than that? The prosthetic metal arm might provide ample more strength than an organic arm, but that’s about where his physical superior capabilities end. He’s a normal human, with no exceptional implants. He can play a mean guitar and is very musically inclined, though, which is worth mentioning as one of his more stand-out abilities.

      Inventory:
-the clothes on his back, including his trademark sunglasses
      -that’s it, kids

      Gembond: Ruby
      Gem Location: Center of sternum
